Stubborn baby, silly parents

It's been a couple months since our last photo shoot, so we headed over to Vanderbilt's campus. We figured with all the prospective freshman visiting during spring break, the campus would be in full bloom. We were right and she was the star of the campus. I think she brought a tear to the eye of more than a few of the prospects' parents.

Amelia recently reached her six month birthday, being silly parents (who wanted an excuse to get a big cake), we threw her a little last minute party. She slept through most if it, but she was pretty happy when we gave her another little taste of frosting.

Speaking of silly things to do as parents, we got the bright idea to take Amelia to Europe on a little business-turned-pleasure trip in May. It seemed like a good idea when we were having fun getting her cute little passport. Stick around, there's bound to be some entertaining stories on the way. More to come in about month.

Well, we figured out the whole rolling over thing. It turns out we have a stubborn child. When she didn't think Beth was looking, Amelia fell over from her sitting position, onto her stomach and promptly and methodically rolled onto her back. With much jubilation, Beth rushed over to her and tried to get her to do it again. She placed Amelia on her stomach to which she promptly responded with screams and cries of agony. After witnessing a similar feat on my own, I tried the same thing, surely she couldn't wait to show off her new talent! Wrong. Screams and cries. Just plain hard-headed! It's no surprise that she inherited stubbornness from her parents, but at least she's self-sufficient. When she gets herself into a tough situation she can get out of it, but if we put her there, she just gets plain angry.

We also have one confirmed sitting up on her own after having been lying in Beth's lap and one confirmed pulling up to a standing position without holding hands. There's also been a lot of "object transfer".

It seems like Amelia's music classes are starting to pay off. She's even joined the choir, every time we take her to church she tries to sing along! Unfortunately she can't carry a tune any better than her parents yet!
